Book Worm

I just finished reading:

I'm not a big Rosie fan, but I admit I was curious about the book. It's a light and quick read, finished in two days. There is some inetersting insight into her life as a child, but better are the behind the scenes dish on the view and her relationship with the other ladies. Overall, the book was ok, not as great as all the hype.

Boo!

Happy Halloween!!

We celebrated last weekend for Luciano's birthday and we all had an awesome time.

My costume was Amy Winehouse, and Matty was Ricky Bobby!

Lexie and Luciano were French.

Marcus and Megs were Homer and Marge.

Dimitri and Courtney were a thug gangsta and Paris Hilton

As always, Lexie threw a great party with spooky decorations and yummy snacks. Everyone really put in the effort on their costume, and there were a lot of excellent ones. Such as:
Forrest Gump and Jenny

Mr. and Mrs. Swiss Alps

The "Dick in Box" guys (I thought this was brilliant!)

And this guy

Not only did we party the night away, we held the biggest game of flip game ever, 9 peeps on each team. Of course the girls won!

Happy Birthday Luciano!!!!

Let's play dress up

Halloween is around the corner, and it's always fun to dress up. There was a big chunk of time that no one really did anything, so thinking of a costume wasn't an issue. But Luciano's birthday is a few days before so he has a birthday get together to celebrate. And the best part? Costumes are mandatory.

Last year was awesome. I went as Lil John, blinged out grill and crump cup included. Matty went as Charlie Brown, but he didn't want to shave his goatee so he looked like an adult Charlie Brown, so we called him Chuck Brown all night.

Marcus and Megs were Wayne and Garth and really got into character. They had one of my favorite costumes of the night.

Lexie and Luc went as a flapper and gangsta and really looked the part. Luciano even spoke like a old time gangsta "yaaaa see!"

D went as Ali G (it was dead on) and Court was Ms. Swan from Mad TV. Her costume and accent were so real it was scary!

This years party is only a few weeks away. I already know what I'm going to be, but mum's the word until after the party. I don't want anyone stealing my idea;)

What are you dressing up as this year?

Blow out the candles

Today is a very special day...it's my homeslice Lanie's birthday!

She is one of my closest and best friends in this whole world, and she's probably going to kill me for this post...but what are friends for?

We've known each other for 20 years and have been through some amazing things in our life together. Lanie is one of the coolest and most genuine people you could ever wish to meet in your life. She's beautiful, funny, loyal and has a huge heart. Anyone that has met her can't help but fall in love with her and I'm proud to call her my homeskillet.

So Lanie, I love you, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

THEN:

Still homey's for life!

Book worms are cool

I love books. Especially autobiograhies. Especially about musicians. I don't have the time to read as much as I'd like, but when I can, I get totally engrossed in the story. I may not pick the most brain stimulating books ever written, but they're interesting to me. I'm facinated by these peoples story, their path in life and how they got to where they are now.

Last book I read:

"In February 2005, more than 10,000 people in Bakersfield, California, watched as Brian 'Head' Welch–the former lead guitarist of the controversial Nu–metal band Korn–was saved by Jesus Christ. The event set off a media frenzy as observers from around the world sought to understand what led this rock star out of the darkness and into the light. Now, in this courageous memoir, Head talks for the first time about his shocking embrace of God and the tumultuous decade that led him into the arms of Jesus Christ.

Taking the reader backstage with Korn, Head tells the inside story of life in the band and how his rock star lifestyle resulted in an all–consuming addiction to methamphetamines. Head writes openly about the tour bus mayhem of Ozzfest and The Family Values tour, while providing a candid look at how the routine of recording and traveling placed him in a cycle of addiction that he could not break on his own.

Candid, compelling and inspirational, Save Me from Myself is a rock & roll journey unlike any other."

I really enjoyed this book, but it was a little bit heavy on the Jesus stuff. Other than that, i thought the journey that Brian traveled was an incredible one and I'm glad he was brave enough to tell his story.

Book I'm currently reading:

"From troubled beginnings and tragedy to triumph and transformation, he reveals all for the first time in this no-holds-barred memoir. Dog spent the first twenty-three years of his life on the wrong side of the law. In You Can Run, but You Can't Hide, he offers an inside look at his days as a gang member; his dark years of addiction and abuse; and how serving eighteen months in prison for a murder he didn't commit helped him recommit to his faith.

He also shares stories of some of his most dangerous bounty hunts -- including his capture of Max Factor heir and convicted rapist Andrew Luster, which made international headlines. Against all odds, Dog turned his life around and went from ex-con to American icon in the process. This is his story. "

I love Dog. I love the show and was really interested in his story. This guy has lived one hell of a tough life, but his transformation is incredible. So far, the book is well written and really gives an inside look into his past and also the escapades of chasing down the bad guys.

So, if you're looking for a good read and an interesting story, check out one of the above books and get lost in their story.
